Welcome To Our Journey

Our journey began long before we realized it was occurring. But we are here today, as a family, because we were willing to sacrifice. There are many things we have learned along the way. We have learned of divine beauty. We have learned of God’s grace from the sorrows of this world. We want to share our hope in the future as well as our love of our neighbor.

This world is challenging. It is difficult being an Orthodox Christian.

That is why we pray.

We firmly believe that, in these times of turmoil or in any time past, present, or future, we cannot become masters of the faith, but must be mastered by the faith given to us by our Lord God and Saviour Jesus Christ. Our Orthodox Christian values must never be abandoned.

The Holy Church, which is indestructible, is, after all, God’s Church. That is why His witnesses (martyres) exist to this day. We must be vigilant to see and hear them. It is very important to oppose the lies and half-truths of the devil with the whole truth of the Church. Therein is the journey.

From the litany at the beginning of Divine Liturgy “That He may deliver His people from their enemies, visible and invisible, and may confirm in us the oneness of mind, brotherly love, and piety, let us pray to the Lord.“

Orthodoxia
“I tend to be loyal to people, not organizations. Orthodoxy (as in Orthodoxia), is an exception to that, but that is loyalty to being Orthodox, with all of my own failings, sins, and struggles. The sins and struggles are great, and weigh on me constantly. I try to be externally calm, and sure, when people around me need that, but it isn’t that way internally. But I understand loyalty to conscience, because (and here I will make a leap) that struggle of loyalty to conscience, when that conscience is struggling to live within what it is to be Orthodox, is The Ladder.”

We few, who gather together in a temporary facility, choose to remain faithful to the Holy Orthodox faith. For us to do this, we had to sacrifice. Moreover, our sacrifices were unique to each of us. We risked everything, from years of comfort to beautiful memories. However, we each knew one thing – something that bonded us together – and sustained us.

Love exists only in the present tense.

The man who does not manifest love in the present has not love.

Future love does not exist.

Love God and your neighbor now lest you miss the opportunity to love at all.

With this in mind, we knew we had to love God now, not later. We had to follow Him carrying our own crosses in His reality, not our sentimentality.
