Becoming one

Membership

Membership is based on two criteria:
1) frequent participation in the Holy Mystery of Repentance
and 2) documented monthly giving.

The Holy Mystery of Repentance is the only Holy Mystery of the Church that may be initiated by the laity. It’s a critical part of your journey. It’s a sign of humility - the podvig (selfless, ascetic, heroic exploit) - before God. And it a profound spiritual, physical, and emotional healing. Confession is a change of mind – a step away from darkness to the Light.

We ought to confess often, weekly, if not monthly. We should never partake of the Holy Eucharist with our hearts laden down with troubles. Moreover, our own frailties cause us to be forgetful, and forgetfulness labors against us, pulling us toward the darkness – to the point that darkness becomes an acceptable way of life. We must avoid the darkness at all costs.

“As St. Ignatius (Brianchaninov) says, in a drop of dew, in the human soul has reflected the light of the Sun, the light of the Divinity, and you admire it in a moment, giving thanks for this mercy and gift.” Source.

“He who constantly labors over himself already differs from other people.” Source.

Strive to labor and fear not, for we are the people of Pascha.

Let us seek God’s mercy together. Only then can we support each other.

Documented electronic monthly giving enables the parish to thrive. Every successful and vibrant parish story includes normalized monthly giving, a tithing of 1%-3% of monthly earnings. Of course, some may give more. Others may give less. Each one of us encounters different life circumstances.

Anonymous contributions are discouraged. Yet, giving envelopes are provided at each liturgical service. Simply write your name on the envelope and place it in the donation basket. Document your gift to the Lord.

Your stewardship of self (i.e., confession) and the parish (i.e., documented monthly giving) are vital relationships with our Lord God and Saviour Jesus Christ. There is nothing more the Lord wants than to have a relationship with us.
